Hi we are experiencing an issue with custom fonts within Crystal reports.  The font is an open type font that does appear to work if the report is viewed as a crystal report, but when it is rendered or scheduled into a PDF instance it fails and gives a Crystal Reports: Print Engine Error when using openDocument and scheduling gives exporter error. Any help or feedback is appreciated

I just installed Business Objects 4.0 SP6 on Windows Server 2008 Standard. I also have installed SQL Server 2008 and Client Tools on the same machine. I am trying to connect to this server via client tools from a different computer and I am not able to do so. I have opened the firewall and ports from 6400 to 6999. I use Logmein VPN to get connected to the same network and nothing is working. I can only access CMC and BI launchpad from web. I opened 8080 port and thats the only success i had so far.

I really need help with this. Can someone please let me know what i need to do step by step to access my server using clinet tools. I need my Information Design Tool to be connect.

I looked all over the net but couldnt figure out anything.

I have installed BI 4.0 on windows 2008 with Tomcat 6 / MSSQL. Authentication with AD is configured based on Admin guide. I can log in CMC / Bi Launch Pad manually with Windows AD Authentication.

Kerberos SSO with AD doesn't work. I got the error message as "Account Information Not Recognized: Active Directory Authentication failed to log you on. Please contact your system administrator to make sure you are a member of a valid mapped group and try again. If you are not a member of the default domain, enter your user name as UserName@DNS_DomainName, and then try again. (FWM 00006)"

The error shows at trace file Webapp_BIlaunchpad_trace.000001.glf as follows:

Update: I worked with SAP Support. SSO works for manually inputting the password at Tomcat configuration. It seems there is something wrong with Keytab. We will create new keytab.

BI 4.1, SP1, Patch 2 (Windows/Tomcat)

Running into intermittent error messages of the ERR_WIS_30270 variety when using Webi, and eventually WIReportServer.exe on the app server crashes and restarts. (This causes additional problems on the client PC when the "auto-save" timeout ends and the user's browser tries to save the report [fail] hundreds of times per minute.)

So far have tried, none have worked:

Setting all servers to run on static ports

Creating a second Webi APS (both running, for redundancy)

Creating a second Webintelligenceprocessingserver (same)

Adjusting Xms, XmX, and MaxPermSize parameters on Webi APS

Adjusting JTCss size on Webintelligenceprocessingserver

Unchecking "Use LOV Cache" on the Webintelligenceprocessingserver

Creating a duplicate SIA with all new servers and running from those

Occurs with small or large reports. Does not matter whether they were migrated from XI3.1 or created new in 4.1. Also does not matter whether I am running reports via the web or in the Rich Client, I see the same behavior. And occasionally, the Rich Client will crash on my local PC.

I have an open support case and have searched and read through every pertinent article I could find, but have not seen anything that matches these symptoms yet.

Has anyone else had similar trouble? Is there anything else I can try (aside from hoping newer patches will work)?

I have installed the Business Objects Business Intelligence 4.0 SP5 Patch 2 onto the clean Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Server based on the Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 SP2 (latest hotfix). Everything seemed to be ok. "Only" the WebI reports could not be viewed with the Error message: "Illegal access to the viewer. Please use a valid URL". The properties in the CMC and the BI did not include any option to work with WebI reports as is described in the SAP note 1740500.

It is unbelievable, this note is still valid since 10.7.2012. Recommendation to uninstall whole environment is "pretty cool" and time wasting.

Ok, so, I tried to repair it on the SP5 Patch 2 level, at first. (Of course, by SP4 record in the Microsoft Programs and Features.) It did not work. Then I uninstalled the SP5 Patch 2 and SP5 itself. Repair did not work, again. So, I uninstalled it all, cleaned the registry, deleted the home directory and restarted the host. And, guess what? After new installation attempt WebI reports are not running, again, with the same error message.

So, I checked the setupengine.log. There are these error messages:

Hello Experts,

Two days ago, I installed BI4.1 SP1 and configured Win AD authentication. It was working perfectly fine until yesterday.

But when I tried to log in today, I'm getting an error message:

"Account information not recognized: Could not reach CMS. Specify the correct host and port and check for network issues. (FWM 20030)"

I tried logging in using an AD account as well as Admin account with Enterprise. The SIA is running but when I try to connect to the server via SIA settings, client tools or the web apps, then I'm getting the above error message. I tried logging in from the Client Machine as well the SERVER using Servername:PortNumber, but still the same error.

I checked the log files but couldn't figure/understand what and where to look.

Please suggest how do I start debugging or fixing this issue?

We have BI4.1 SP1 on one Win 2008 R2 server.

My company is using SAP Business Objects BI v4 SP02 Patch 11.

Currently we have 1 application server connect to 1 database server

Application server

- running on IBM AIX Machine

- OS 6.1

- 16GB Memory

- 50GB Hard Disk

- installed with WebSphere v7.0.0.21

- installed with BOBJ BI v4 SP02 Patch 11

-  BOBJ has been configured as follows :-

a)    SIA node name = SIA_PROD1 (with default 16 services)

b)    SIA port no = 6410

c)    CMS name = CRPRD1

d)    CMS port no = 6400

e)    CMS database connected to METADATA

f)    AUDIT database for CMS connected to AUDIT

Database server

- running on IBM AIX Machine

- OS 6.1

- 16GB Memory

- 150GB Hard Disk

- installed with IBM DB2 server software

- 3 databases have been created which are METADATA , REPORT and AUDIT

Now we would like to add another 2 new physical servers to serve as a backup/high availability purposes. 1 for APPL and another 1 for DBASE.

We've completed clustering the DBASE with IBM PowerHA (active - passive) but we're not sure on how to configure BOBJ BI v4 for the new server.

Questions during installation on the new server :-

a)    Do I need to key-in SIA_PROD1 or create a new one called SIA_PROD2 ?

b)    Do I need to key-in 6410 or create a new port no for above SIA node ?

c)    Do I need to key-in 6400 or create a new port no for CMS ?

d)    Is there any different in deploying BOE file ?

For time being only above confused me. I've read "Business Intelligence Platform Administrator Guide" but the explanation is too general.

See attached file on what type of clustering I want to perform.

Also if possible, kindly highlight me any important things that I may left out.

As an administration requirement we have to extract list of users within our BO server. I looked upon the forum and found that we can use query builder for the purpose.

I used query builder and ran query " Select SI_NAME from CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS where SI_NAMEDUSER=1 AND SI_KIND='User' " to list down the users. No issues till this point, the query ran fine and gave list of users in the server but I couldn't find a way to take export of this list. Then I thought of creating a webi report on top of CMS database pulling column "dbo.CMS_Aliases6.Alias" into report but that shows some ids for all enterprise users.

Please let me know if there is any other method that I can implement to take export of user list from server. I know this can be achieved using SDK but I want to try it at last.

I've come across the SAP Note stating that IE11 will be officially compatible with BI 4.1 beginning with SP3 at the end of March (SAP Note 1949010 – BusinessObjects Support for Internet Explorer 11 and SAP BusinessObjects Maintenance Schedule).  We are currently planning to in-place upgrade from 4.0 SP5 to 4.1 SP[insert unknown level here].[insert unknown patch level here].  I have BI 4.1 SP2 Patch 1 installed and running in a sandbox, and have been using IE11 without any known issues with BI LaunchPad, Explorer, Webi, Dashboards, CMC, etc...  From everything I know, IE11 is not a significant change from IE10, which 4.1 is already supporting...

So my question is basically, has anyone had any problems with IE11 in a 4.1 SP2 or SP1 install?  I know it's not 'officially' supported until SP3, however we need time to nail down and test a specific SP now, and not in 2 months.  My initial thinking is that IE11+4.1 SP2 is usable, but figured I'd ask here, too!

We have recently upgraded to BI 4.1 and I am trying to reconfigure the auditing reports we had. Previously we were using the default ms sql 2008 express edition and on BI 4.1 (clean installation to formatted machine), we again used an ms sql 2008 database instead of the default sybase sql anywhere database.

The problem is when I try the sample universes designed for BO 4.0, it just doesn't work. In IDT when checked for integrity, it gives lots of errors which makes me think BO 4.1 requires a different set of sample auditing universes. Has SAP published or announced to publish such sometime? I searched the forums but with no luck couldn't find anything.

Or, is it possible to adapt and use the BO 4.0 universes in some way?

Designing my own auditing universe is out of options unfortunately.

Does anyone have any tips on improving excel performance when exporting a webi report? I don't want to get into discussions on why users are trying to export larger files (in excess of 6MB); I am just looking for suggestions.

When a user runs the export, not only does it take a long time, but there is simply no notification that the export is even processing or if it stopped, etc.

In previous tools, the user could run the same query and it would run and export very quickly, but in BO it could take upwards of 10min or [much] more.

Any ideas? We are on BO 4.0 SP 7 Patch 7 currently, with a planned upgrade to BO 4.1 SP4 over the summer.  Maybe this is no longer an issue with 4.1?

I have installed SAP Crystal Server 2013 trial and also configured bi launchpad from windows server.

I can create new crystal reports using "SAP Crystal Reports" tool and export with pdf/excel format. And also can view the report list from  bi launchpad. But I couldn't get detailed view.

If i click the report, getting loading message "Please wait while the document is being processed" some long time and finally getting error alert like,

Error : Unable to process your request

Server : Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise

Database : Mysql

Issues opening CMC after Install

After installing Business objects we hare having issues opening CMC.

The error message reads "http://localhost:8080/BOE/CMC  The requested resource () is not available."

Product version: BOE BI 4.0

Product patches installed: None

OS: Win 2008 R2

CMS DB: MS SQL 2008 (default db)

.NET : 3.5.1 installed

Authentication type: sa (for MS SQL). SAP\Administrator is the userid i

am using (domain SAP)

Tomcat 6 and SIA services are running

Java NOT installed

No cluster: it is a test system with virtual machine (vmware)

I have tried copying the WEBAPPS folder from a different location but that comes with other baggage. The system name of another system comes in by default in the CMC screen as a result of this. This could lead to other complications & henced we decided not to go with this.

I have checked 1399827 - HTTP Status 404 accessing the CMC. Is this note a fix for this issue. If yes, then I am not able to find the variables as per this note in the WEB.xml file

I have also checked the note 1639813 - "Error: HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource (/BOE/CMC) is not available" when launching Central Management Console in BI 4.0. However I am not able to find the file config.tomcat6 in the given

location as per the document.

Any thoughts???

We found that our BO server's input/output file repository servers has saved large amount of files (~60G in total) under our server's local directory while we have less than 10000 bi reports. Please suggest how to housekeep any unused files / empty directories safely. Thanks.
